I don’t always watch TV. I do have a new 51″ coming, but I’m trying to get into better shape after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. Not much time. Thankfully, this is something I’m well versed at.
Whether a person is just a normal weekend exercising individual or an experienced athlete, nothing can help improve the performance more than proper nutrition. Proper nutrition helps a person’s body to acquire proper weight, great shape and to maintain all the reflexes. And if a person doesn’t give any important to a good nutrition than working hours and hours to be better in sports will get the person nowhere.
There isn’t really a specific kind of diet available for sports as it depends a lot on the age of the person. Carbohydrates are required for any person who is involved in sports as it gives a lot of energy to the person. Sports like soccer, football, tennis, hockey and basketball require a lot of power, therefore carbohydrates is an important source of energy in this kind of case. They are also required for long distance sports such as swimming, cross country skiing and long distance running. Although carbohydrates are good for preserving energy in the body, but at the same time the body needs important proteins, minerals and vitamins as well. Ideally, these should be available in the everyday food that a person eats anyway, but if he or she is not, it can affect in a bad way as the person might not have enough strength for good performance.
Sports diet has dual purposes. It keeps a person healthy and prevents him or her for fatigue which helps in maintaining a high level of energy during any kind of exercise. Cutting back on sugar is a very good idea as a sportsman doesn’t want to get his blood sugar level very high. Some good foods that have carbohydrates in them and do not affect blood sugar level, are, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, high fiber breakfast cereals, vegetables and fruits.
And also the most important thing is not to get dehydrated as drinking water at all times is very important and a good recovery drink after won’t hurt.
